I have a nice Bubinga board that I want to use for guitar bindings. What is the best way to go about cutting these. |

I usually use a fairly thin kerf saw blade on my table saw. They come out clean so I don't need to do much thickness sanding. Bandsaw is ok also just need a little more sanding |

Thanks, Good tips. Does it matter if they are quarter or flat sawn? |

I usually use pau ferro, east indian rosewood, maple or ebony. I haven't had a problem if it is not quartered. |

Todd Stock wrote: Diablo blade in table saw...fast, accurate, and no sanding to get to dimensioned strips with good technique. Todd - I am thinking about cutting some solid linings with my table saw and Diablo blade (which I rarely use) - I respect the tool and don't want to do anything silly with it. I have been cutting and thinning the wood with a bandsaw and plane for linings - but I am unhappy with the result, I want more consistency. My question is if I have a board 3/4" x 6 " x 32" and I want to take slices from 6" width - meaning 3/4" x .07 or .06" slices - how thin can I safely keep pushing that 32" board through the saw ? Meaning my 6" board will be 1.5" wide after I peel off 'x' number of .06 x 3/4" x 32" slices - after 1.5" my push stick is probably too close to the blade - what do you do with the left over piece of wood that is now 1.5" x 32" x 3/4" - leave it for the bandsaw ? An idea I had was to glue the 6" board I want to use for linings or binding to a sacrificial board that will go against the fence till that last usable slice of my 6" board is cut. |

so are you re-adjusting the fence by .06 every cut ? |
